The Committee on Administration (COA) approved the appointment of the World Outreach Director Search Committee on July 23.
This committee will call the successor to current World Outreach Director George Carey, whose term will end December 31, 2014.
“The COA’s goal is to have George’s successor called and confirmed by March 2014,” said Jeff Jeremiah. “This will enable George and the next Director to have a lengthy ‘overlap’ that will ensure as smooth a transition as possible. In addition, the new Director would be introduced to the 2014 General Assembly and attend the World Outreach Homecoming event in Hungary in July 2014.”
Members of the search committee are: Scott Larson, missions’ pastor at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Brighton, MI. Dave Adamson, World Outreach missionary home on furlough. Diane Thrash, wife of World Outreach Associate Phil Thrash. Jeff Chadwick, pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Rome, GA and George Carey’s predecessor as World Outreach Director. Dick Oestreicher, Jeff Chadwick’s predecessor as World Outreach Director and a current member of the World Outreach staff. Don Elliott, member of the World Outreach Committee. Stated Clerk Jeff Jeremiah who was also a member of the search committee that called George in 2008.
The first onsite meeting of the search committee will take place Thursday through Saturday, August 22-24, in the General Assembly Office. Please be in prayer for the committee as they begin the search for the person we know God has equipped and called to build on the great work He is doing in EPC World Outreach!
