Thursday, May 2, is the National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme, Pray for America, emphasizes the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of God, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. Matthew 12:21 is the theme Scripture: “In His name the nations will put their hope.”
Keep these biblical admonitions and promises in mind as you set aside time for individual and corporate prayer May 2:
Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7, ESV)
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41, ESV)
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, ESV)
