Eastminster Celebrates!

The congregation of Eastminster (EPC) in Wichita, KS packed its worship center for a “Celebration Sunday” service as they marked their entry into the EPC on November 11.   The time of worship was characterized by praise and gratitude to God for leading the church through their transition from their former denomination into the EPC.  “He Reigns” and “Malachi 3.2” from Handel’s “Messiah” were the special presentations of the Eastminster music ministry, which also led the congregation in enthusiastic singing of “Holy, Holy, Holy” and “The Church’s One Foundation.”

Heading the Mid-America Commission that installed Associate Pastors Kermit Oppriecht and Paul Bammell and the Eastminster Session was Pastor Kent Mathews, Grace Community Fellowship in Ottawa, KS.  Other members of the Commission were Brad Werner, Scott Brehm and Vicki Hall.  Kent administered the vows to the pastors and ruling elders.  Brad gave the charge to Kermit and Paul.

Interim Senior Pastor Bob Hopper presented the charge to the congregation and did a masterful job of presenting the import of Eastminster’s move to the EPC to the next generation in his children’s message.  Stated Clerk Jeff Jeremiah preached the sermon at the combined worship service and also presented and answered questions about the EPC at a combined Sunday School class before the worship service.
