Greenwood Celebrates

Greenwood-CelebratesOn Sunday, September 26, Greenwood EPC of Covington, Virginia celebrated its 152nd anniversary with a Homecoming event that featured worship, a gospel concert and a potluck lunch.  Presbytery Stated Clerk Howard Shockley and his wife Margaret represented Mid-Atlantic Presbytery and EPC Stated Clerk Jeff Jeremiah attended the historic event on behalf of the national church.  A contingent from Kempsville Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Pastor Bill Catoe’s home church, made the four-hour drive to Covington to participate as well.  In the worship service Howard led the congregation in prayer and Jeff preached the sermon.  Bill Catoe, of “Roll Tide” fame at this year’s General Assembly has provided outstanding leadership to this congregation and community in the two years he’s served as pastor.  Bill said, “This is a wonderful group of people here, and the Lord has been doing some great things in our midst as He’s grown this congregation spiritually and biblically as well as numerically.”
