The 32nd General Assembly (2012) approved six amendments to the Book of Order.  Those amendments have been sent to the Presbyteries as Descending Overtures and are available electronically.  The Descending Overtures will be distributed as information at upcoming presbytery meetings.  Sessions are urged to review and discuss them prior to debate and vote at a later presbytery meeting.  Presbyteries vote to approve or not approve each of the six Descending Overtures, but may not amend them.  Approval of each Descending Overture by nine of the EPC’s eleven presbyteries is required.  Those that receive the required approval will come to the 33rd General Assembly (2013) for ratification and then will become effective.
