before and after the Boles fire on September 15

Grace Community Church in Weed, Calif., burned to the ground on September 15. The church building was one of numerous structures—including more than 100 homes—lost in the Boles wildfire that has ravaged the area.

Ruling Elder Gerry Watson said that while no church members have lost their homes, several members’ homes are at risk should the fire situation change. He also said that a fund has been set up to allow the church to assist victims in the community.

“We will use the monies to purchase gift certificates from Wal-Mart and our local grocery store and distribute them to those who lost everything,” he said. “This way they can buy what they really need.”

Donations should be sent to Grace Community Presbyterian Church, c/o Gerry Watson, 6031 Blancas Ct., Weed CA, 96094. Watson noted that all contributions will be deposited into an account designated for community fire victim’s relief. He noted that the church itself was fully insured, so all funds will be dispersed to meet needs in the community.
