Input Wanted on Proposed Revision to the Book of Government

The 32nd General Assembly (2012) received the first draft of a proposed revision to the Book of Government from an Ad Interim Committee appointed by the Moderator of the 29th General Assembly. The Assembly instructed that the draft be sent to Sessions and Presbyteries for “study and comment including corrections, additions and/or other pertinent information, to be submitted to the Committee Chairman by December 31, 2012.”

A printed copy of the proposed revision to the Book of Government was mailed to Clerks of Session the week of August 20, 2012. The document is available electronically. Input should be sent by December 31 to Book of Order Revisions Committee Chairman Howard Shockley (hshockley@msn.com) or by mail to the “Book of Order Revisions Committee” at 17197 N. Laurel Park Drive, Suite 567, Livonia, MI 48152.

Input received will be thoroughly reviewed by the Committee and a revised draft prepared and sent to the 33rd General Assembly for approval. If approved by the upcoming General Assembly, the document will be circulated among the presbyteries as a Descending Overture for approval.
